Dwarf Hamster Volleyball

Rules & How to Play

Dwarf Hamster Volleyball is a sport that only dwarf hamsters can play, due to the ball size. It is often played at the beach, but traditionally it is played inside.

Unlike the human version of volleyball, in Dwarf Hamster Volleyball there are two nets. The teams stand between the two nets. The goal of the game is to through the ball over the other team's net. (see image)

Similarly to human volleyball, there are two teams with six players. The same type of ball is used, but several sizes smaller.

Most games last between 20 - 30 minutes. A game ends when a team has 25 points. Points are scored when a ball goes over the opponents net. 2 points are deducted if the ball goes under the opponents net. 3 points are deducted if the ball goes over (or under) your teams net.

Games are officially over after 45 minutes (even if the score is a tie!).

Meet the Dwarf Power team! Hamstington's international Dwarf Hamster Volleyball Team

Coach: Eva Buchhamster

Eva Buchhamster has played Volleyball for over 30 years, she only stopped when her coach stopped and asked Eva to fill her post. Eva loves reading as her last name suggest (in English 'buchhamster' means book hamster), she has written some short stories and poems that she hopes to publish one day. Eva also enjoys skiing and mountain biking in her home town of Lemmingvill. Eva's sister, Claire, still lives there and owns a small cabin. Eva is very good with at crocheting and enjoys doing it in her free time.

Lemon Wisker

Lemon Wisker loves writing and has written 15 novels, all of which have been a best seller, Lemon loves chocolate covered lemon jelly sweets and is a big fan of caramel and chocolate. She lives next to Georgia Ginger (INFO HERE), and the two are good friends. Lemon also liked playing chess, but is a terrible player (or so she says). She doesn't like traveling, and prefers to stay in her home of New Lemmington. Her best friend is Sandy White, who also lives in New Lemmington, both are currently taking classes in Roller Skating.

Emma Leora Von Kleine-Nasen

Emma Leora Von Kleine-Nasen loves cooking, but isn't too fond of baking. She doesn't like sweet things and has more of a sour tooth. Emma lives in Gerbil Town and helps run the Chinchilla Tavern. Emma also enjoys swimming, roller skating, and ice skating. Emma is a very chatty rodent, and loves dancing. She has taught her teammates the waltz, Irish, and one that she created. Emma doesn't enjoy reading as she has to wear reading glasses, that make it hard, and she doesn't like contacts.

Jack White

Jack White is Sandy White's sister, the two get along well except for the fact that Sandy loves the smell of lavender and Jack says that his nose needs a break. Along with Volleyball, Jack plays the human version of Tennis. Jack has a fine nose for spices and helps spice his sisters stews. Jack enjoys reading history and math text books, but not fiction novels. Jack is a very quiet rodent with big opinions, the only flaw is that most of his opinions are formed before he knows any facts. Jack writes short stories that he publishes on the Dwarf Power website.

Sandy White

Sandy loves reading comic books, but she doesn't like "written" books, she finds them too long and boring. One book that she does like is Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. She loves raspberries and other berries. Her favorite tea is peppermint, and Sandy loves traveling. Sandy enjoys cooking jams and stews that her brother, Jack White, spices. Personally, Sandy's favorite spice is curry and she enjoys putting it on everything. Her best friend is Lemon Wisker who thinks the best spice is cinnimon. They have had very discussions and still don't agree, however, they don't let that fact get in the way of their friendship.

William Furr

William Furr is excellent in math, science, and history. However, his favorite subject has always been languages. William is fluent in Skunk, Japanese, Old Gerbilish, New Gerbilish, Otter, and Spanish. William loves learning and is currently doing a course about 'How Hamstington's Geography Might Change'. William is always in a good mood and gets along with all his teammates, they are all always interested to hear his personal opinion and his scientific opinion. The one subject William thinks he is no good in is pottery, he got an 'F' in the class, and has never tried it again. Jack White, his best friend and teammate, is trying to convince him to give the subject another chance.

Caramel Bright-Eye

Caramel Bright-Eye has been playing volleyball since she was 3, her mother, Bella, once played on a national level for Hamsterville. She collects cactuses and rare coins. Her coin collection includes about 200 rare coins, some of them are from Earth and some from Hamstington. She also has some from Froggy-World. Caramel loves to star gaze and to draw. Caramel is a robo dwarf hamster from England. Caramel is good friends with Sandy White and the two enjoy browsing the comic book section of the bookstores and libraries. She has two older sisters, Opal and Jasmine, who also love volleyball.
