Second Pirate attack on the Capybara Islands!🏴‍☠️

We once again travel to the Capybara Island to see the crime scene of the Pirate’s attack. A while ago, part of the crew was arrested. Officials thought they had arrested the entire crew, but today they were proven wrong. The crew had split up and one half of the crew (that was not arrested) waited a while in a secret cove and then decided to try to attack another one of the Capybara Islands. Tomorrow we have an interview that will make your bones chilly.

Interview with Witness (June 1)

Reporter: What is your name?

Witness: Marie Carter, town baker.

Reporter:Where were you when the pirates attacked?

Marie: Outside taking my break.

Reporter: Did you see the attack?

Marie: No, I wasn’t at the beach, but I ran there after I heard a shout.

Reporter: What did the beach look like?

Marie: It was hard to see, there were so many rodents running around.

Reporter: Was the attack successful?

Marie: Nobody knows, it's rumored that rodents are missing. Personally, I think our fishnets kept them away a second time.

Marie Carter, town baker (squirrel) phone: 709-465-8815

Email: marie.carter@squirrelmail.com

A bonus interview with Hamstington's best female track runners (the sisters Anna & Claire):

Reporter: Hello, how are you?

Claire: Ok, pretty stressed about the upcoming Olympics.

Reporter: Why are you stressed?

Anna: Claire is having trouble with hurdles. She can’t decide which leg will go up first.

Reporter: How do the races work?

Anna: There are six wheels in a row; each rodent steps into his/her wheel and starts running when the judges call “carrots!” Then all rodents start to run; the wheel will count how many times the wheel has turned. When you have five turns to go, a red light flashes, and you try to stop running.

Reporter: Thank you for your time today! I’ll see you at the Olympics!!!

Detective Spectacles

Case Closed: EVENT CANCELED!

Remember this mystery?

“The Grand reopening of the History Museum in Hamstervill was canceled yesterday. During the final cleaning of the museum there was a crash as a maid reported and then a supporting pillar in the Egyptian wing fell down! Nobody was hurt, but during the confusion, a valuable crown was stolen in the Crowns room! Are these two events linked?” (May 28, 2020)

It was solved yesterday afternoon by Detective Spectacles (Detective Smallfur’s cousin).

This is how he explained the case:

I was stumped at first, than I had this idea:

Q: Who was in the Egyptian wing?

Answer: Nobody

Conclusion: That meant the falling of the pillar was most likely planned.

Q: Who were my suspects?

Answer: Everyone in the building at the time.

Q: Why would somebody want the opening to be postponed?

Possible answer(s):

A. They needed more time

B. The events are not connected

C. Somebody needed money

D: They wanted to strike it rich by stealing

Conclusion: This gave me some more direct suspects:

  1. The director (fits answer A)

Q: Are any of the employees in need of money?

Answer: No

Conclusion: Answer C was out (unless the director was lying)

Q: Were any of the employees new?

Answer: Yes 50% (10)

Conclusion: Less suspects, they didn’t know the museum well enough.

Q: What good would it do for the director to have the crown stolen?

Answer(s):

  1. Insurance money

  2. More time

Conclusion: The only real benefit would be time, since the money would go to the museum, not him.

Conclusion 2: Lost another suspect.

Who were my suspects now?

Answer: Employees.

Conclusion: either the events were not connected, or somebody was after money.

Thought: None of the old employees were there that day! That means that the director is behind this!

The director confessed and was arrested; the old director has taken the spot once again!

Furstyle gone wrong!

One June 7, 2020, Maragaret Ling got an appointment at “Furs are Us!” in Hamstervill. She agreed to try their newest furstyle, which was to dye fur in rainbow order but it would wash out with Flower Oil. She got the furstyle, but two days later she tried to wash it out, it wouldn’t! So she called “Furs are Us!” (1593-758-8251). They said “Wash your fur again, but its possible that the furstyle is permanent!”

The Furstyle is permanent!

Furs are Us!” no longer has the legal right to style, cut, or dye fur.

Gossip

Rumor in Hamstervill says “Margaret Ling dyed her hair permanently on purpose to be in the newspaper”

It is unknown if this is true!

Museum Robbed!

On June 10, 2020, the Hamstervill Art Museum (hamstervillart.com) was robbed! The original ‘Mona Squeaka’ (inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’) was stolen! The robbery happened at around 10 pm that night. The thief left no clue to who he was, except a very large tuft of cat's fur.

The Hamstervill Police Department thinks that the thief was a cat; the only question is how is the cat small enough to fit in the museum? If you have a idea who this unknown culprit is, go to:

hamstervillpolice-crime13/clue-or-idea/culprit/mona-squeaka/hamstervillpoliceforce.com

Interview with staff member, Abigail Carrots (Bunny)

Reporter: Good Morning, how do you feel about that the museum was robbed?

Abigail: It's a bit scary, actually. Everyone thinks the culprit will strike again.

Reporter: Since the robbery, was the museum closed?

Abigail: Yes.

Reporter: If the culprit does strike again, what do you think he would steal?

Abigail: I don’t know, maybe a Japanese ink painting???

Reporter: How long have you been working at the museum?

Abigail: 2 years.

Reporter: What part about the museum is your favorite?

Abigail: The modern art section.

Reporter: Why?

Abigail: Because every piece is made of different material, and there are no rules.

Reporter: Interesting, what part of your job do you like most? Also, what job do you have in the museum?

Abigail: My job is answering questions to visitors and dusting. My favorite part of my job would be talking with people who understand and appreciate art in the same way I do. I’m running late…

Hedgehog Spring Fair may be in Hamstervill!

The Hedgehog population in Hamstington has decided they want to hold their annual spring/out of hibernation fair in Hamstervill! However, things are not as secure as they seem. The Hamstington President and the Hamstervill mayor want the rodent living there to decide if they want the fair to be in Hamstervill. There will be a big vote on Wednesday (June 17). You can also vote on the official Hamstervill Event Website: hamstervillevents/hedgehog-spring-fair/vote-today/hamstervillfairs.org

You can find more information regarding this event at:

hedgehogspringfair/2020/hamstervill.com

Here is an interview with a rodent that was at the fair last year!🐾

Reporter: Hello! What is your name?

Rodent: Henry.

Reporter: Where was the hedgehog spring Fair last year?

Henry: Volington, Hamstington.

Reporter: Can you describe the Fair?

Henry: It was very small, it was built up like a crossroad.

Reporter: What do you mean?

Henry: There were 2 “streets” that crossed each other, in the center of the crossroad was a large maypole, similar to the one rodents dance around in school.

Reporter: Do you want the Fair to be in Hamstervill?

Henry: No.

Reporter: Why?

Henry: The Fair seems like a country event, not something that should be held in a big modern city.

Reporter: Do you know any hedgehogs personally?

Henry: No, but in my mom's knitting group there is one that I hope to meet.

Reporter: If the Fair is held in Hamstervill, would you still go to it?

Henry: Absolutely!

Anne Olivia Claire

Interview

Here is an interview with the Maid that first reported seeing a ghost! It will make your fur stand on end!

Reporter: What is your name?

Maid: Anna Claire.

Reporter: Did rodents believe you when you reported a ghost?

Anna: No, I was fired.

“Such foolish sights, do you want to waste my money on ghost hunters, Anna Olivia Claire?” was what the director said.

Reporter: Can you describe the ghost?

Anna: Not really, all I remember is a big flash, and then I saw her!

Reporter: You have the same name as the ghost, why?

Anna: Why do you think my picture is so pale? I am the Anna Olivia Claire, that disappeared 100 years ago.

Ghosts?

Many people have reported seeing ghosts in the Royal Theater house in Ratstown!

These sightings often happen at night, but a maid also reported seeing one, half an hour after the last performance of “The Hamster of the Opera”.

You can see some images that rodents were able to take, before the ghost disappeared! Some rodents believe the ghost is a hoax, but some think it's the ghost of Anna Olivia Claire, an actress that disappeared 100 years ago, while still onstage. She was found later that night, transparent like a ghost!

Actress Missing!

Last Saturday (June 20) the movie of “The Ghost of Hamstervill” was filming its last scene in Hamstervill. The director was doing his last scene check, to see that all the actors were ready when he discovered that Maria Furball was missing! This was a great shock, because she had the lead role (the ghost). After a quick search of the building the director (Mr. Prickles) decided to call the police. They did another check of the building and houses on the block, and came to the same conclusion- Maria Furball was missing! After calling off the rest of the day for investigations, Mr. Prickles sent an email to her family. Her family suggested that they search the nearby cafes since those were her favorite relaxing spots. Perhaps, she had thought that they were filming the last scene tomorrow, and this was just a rehearsal where she was not needed.

After searching all of Hamstervills cafes, Maria Furball was still missing! See next squeakers for updates in this mystery, also tomorrow:

New Capybara Island!

Yesterday afternoon, a fishing boat came back to Sunset Harbor with exciting news! They had found a new island, off the coast of the smallest and most northern island. There was no life as far as they could tell. We interview one of the ships rats:

Reporter: Good evening, can you tell us a little bit about the extraordinary island you found?

Ship Rat: yes, but first my name is Henry and I come from Lemmingvill. So….

About the island we were cruising around for a bit after making a good catch (just for our family, not for the stores), we saw a tree lurking from behind the northernmost island. We had been to this island many times and had never noticed that kind of particular tree. So, we rode a little behind the island to see where the tree was from, and there was a tiny little island with a tree sitting in the middle of it.

Reporter: Have you chosen a name for this island?

Henry: No.

Reporter: Thank you for this exciting interview!

Do you have an idea what the little island should be called?

The Island

Photo from the 1995 eruption!

Panic in Hamstervill!

Not many rodents remember the volcanic eruption of 1995! The ones that do will never forget that volcano. Now 25 years later, the same volcano is threatening to erupt again.

On Sunday, June 28, 2020 a strange lavender smoke started to come out from the mountain a mile north from Hamstervill. Many rodents were puzzled, since they did not know they were living near an active volcano. Here we interview a puzzled tourist:

Reporter: What do you make of the situation?

Tourist: I’m new in Hamstervill, and I never read any report of an active volcano around here!

Reporter: What are you planning to do now?

Tourist: I have a flight coming up soon to New Guinea Pig City anyway, so I hope if the volcano does erupt that the ash won’t travel too far.

Scientist are also puzzled, “The volcano hasn’t shown any signs of disturbance. It's quite puzzling.”

One hamster who saw the 1995 eruption reported:

“The entire city of Hamstervill was evacuated, as well as New Guinea Pig City, Rattington, and Volington. The smoke was so thick we could not leave our home for 3 weeks, and we lived on the other side of Hamstington!”

Let's hope the Hamstervill Volcano does not erupt!

New Theater Opening!

There has been a building site on the corner of Main Street in Hamstervill for as long as anyone can remember (except Mr. Mouse perhaps). Today all citizens rejoiced that the city has plans for that plot of land in the middle of the city.

The mayor of Hamstervill has decided he wants the land to be used to build a new movie theater since all rodents living in Hamstervill have to go to nearby cities/towns to see movies.

We interview a rodent who works with the mayor. She insists on not being named, but will take on the stage name Holly Squeak:

Reporter: What is your job?

Holly S.: I’m the mayor's secretary.

Reporter: Do you like it?

Holly S.: Yes.

Reporter: How long have you been working with the mayor?

Holly S.: About 3 years.

Reporter: Do you support the mayor's decision?

Holly S.: Yes.

Reporter: Do you ever regret becoming a secretary?

Holly S.: No.

Reporter: The picture of a theater shown above is that what the building will look like from the inside when finished?

Holly S.: Yes and no. The picture is of a theater in New Guinea Pig City. The plan is to base it off of that but change it to fit Hamstervill.

Reporter: That is all the time we have for today, thank you for your time.
